Capsule Bio
Andrea Monteriù received the MSc Degree in Electrical Engineering, Technical University of Denmark with the thesis ‘Fault-tolerant methods for sensor fusion’, under the supervision of Prof Mogens Blanke. Moreover, he received the Laurea Degree (joint BSc/MSc equivalent) Summa Cum Laude in Electronic Engineering (thesis entirely developed with a Socrates Erasmus Fellowship) and the PhD Degree in Artificial Intelligence Systems, both from the Università Politecnica delle Marche, in 2003 and 2006, respectively. His PhD thesis ‘Model-Based Fault Diagnosis for Mobile Robotic Systems’ is focused on the innovative fault diagnosis technologies for modern control systems, under the supervision of Prof Sauro Longhi. In 2005, he was a visiting researcher at the Center for Robot Assisted Search & Rescue of the University of South Florida, under the supervision of Prof Kimon Valavanis, where he has actively contributed on the research project ‘Heterogeneous Unmanned Aerial-Ground Vehicle Collaboration and Coordination: Distributed Autonomy, Decision Making and Fault Tolerance’, funded by Office of Naval Research, USA.
Since 2005, he is Assistant Professor of different courses: Automatic Control, Automation Systems, Industrial Automation, Modelling and Identification of Dynamic Processes.
Since 2007, he has a PostDoc and Research Fellowship at the Dipartimento di Ingegneria dell’Informazione of the Università Politecnica delle Marche, where he has advised more than 40 BSc, MSc and PhD students.
Currently he is also a Contract Professor of Technologies for Industrial Automation and Automation and Robotics Technologies courses.
He is involved in european projects (SARA, SIOI, JADE, R3COP) and several research projects founded by Italian industries.
He has published more than 40 papers in international conferences and journals. He is a reviewer for several scientific journals in the areas of fault diagnosis, periodic systems, stochastic systems, control of autonomous systems.

@inproceedings{syroco2006, Abstract = {This paper presents a set of results on the design and on the experimental validations of a Sensor Fault Detection System (SFDS) for a smart wheelchair to prevent simples navigation sensor faults and hence to reduce the risk of safety hazards. The design has been performed by the Structural Analysis technique which uses graph theory to determine which redundancy exists in the sensory system and thus shows the possibility to detect and handle the navigation sensor faults. The considered navigation sensor equipment includes odometric, gyroscopic and laser range measures. The experimental tests have been developed by a smart wheelchair equipped with a navigation system.},
